Hoghiz town is placed in the north central area of Brasov County, near Rupea City that is the center of the area.
Geographical speaking the administrative territory of Hoghiz town is placed on the NorthEast extremity of Transilvania Plateau near the Persani Mountain.
On the mountain area we meet conic peaks, smooth surfaces, tablelands for pasture and narrow valley and on the mountain foot through the Olt River bed we can find a lot of fountains that create a lot of bays.
The depression area contains Fagaras Depression, Bogata-Racos Depression and Lupsa Depression.
The specific for the all Hoghiz town depression area is the crossing from mountain to Olt River bed is through hillock that with the terraces constitute an amphitheater mountain area.
All its territory is placed on the Olt River left board and its geological sheet depends of this river.
Olt River floods some areas during the flooding periods though there are dams in the area.
On Hoghiz town territory the Olt River receives two important tributaries: Lupsa Valley and Bogata Valley that together with their tributaries form the hydrographic network of the town territory.
On the Olt River bed the hydrostatic level of water layer is between 0,2 and 1,5 meter and rise up to surface on the flooding.
The climate is continental with rather chilly summer and cool winter and with abundant rainfall during all year.
